Primarily account books of brothers Samuel and Isaac Arnold of Haddam, Connecticut, who were both active in the quarrying business. Samuel Arnold's accounts, 1835-1836, 1859-1868, include diary-type entries in addition to expenses, cash paid, and some items sold. Of note is a circular letter Samuel received in 1858 from the Secretary of the Interior. Isaac Arnold's accounts include records of settling his brother Samuel's estate, selling meal, flour, wood and hay, and being paid back through labor of individuals working in his blacksmith shop. The collection also includes a friendship album, 1824-1825, of Mary Ingersoll; the expense account and diary of Charlie Ingersoll, 1896-1897; an unidentified investment account book that includes records and accounts of the Ladies' Society, 1917-1921; and genealogical notes on the Clark, Dudley and Jones families. Also printed material, including a memorial for Isaac Arnold, Jr. in 1902, and assorted correspondence, including a letter to "Dear Sir" from Governor Buckingham.
